One of my favourite things to do on Thursdays in New York is attending to gallery openings! I truly admire people who dedicate their lives to art, and I really enjoy seeing their creations. Last Thursday, I went to the opening of Vivian Maier exhibition at the Howard Greenberg Gallery (located on 57th and Madison) and loved it!

One of the things that I value the most about this amazing photographer is how she brings attention to the most ordinary objects of our everyday lives and turns them into amazing works of art. I also adore her use of rhythm in her pictures. This exhibition was absolutely stunning and I am really glad I went to see it. I truly recommend visiting if you're in New York!

Fall in Central Park

Fall in Central Park

Central Park is probably my favourite place in New York. I love how this little piece of forest has survived over the years in the middle of such a big city. I love walking around it––even having my own little picnics, if the weather permits––and feeling in contact with nature, which is one of the things I value the most in life. I also love feeling surrounded by trees, but being able to see all the amazing buildings of the city above them whenever I raise my gaze to the sky.

Central Park is particularly pretty in the fall, as all the trees start turning orange/red and leaves fall to cover the grounds. This is probably one of the first memories I have of New York, and I still love to see it year after year... Unfortunately, most leaves are not orange at all yet––and I honestly doubt it they will make the colour change before falling––but I still managed to shoot some cute pictures of my secret garden.

NYC Marathon 2014

I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before, but I'm a real admirer of people who do sports on a regular basis. Practicing sports––or any kind of activity, actually––on a regular basis is an amazing experience, that teaches you about perseverance, responsibility, and discipline... and these are all basic components of living a happy life––at least to me!

So of course I had to go and cheer the people at the NYC Marathon. I did not go to the finish line because I figured it was going to be a little crowded, so I went somewhere around mile 25.5––which is very close to the end. I made it just in time before the female leads went by, and had to wait only a short amount of time before seeing their male counterparts.

I must confess that while I was there, I got a little nostalgic... Seeing dozens of people cheering all the runners, no matter if they'd never seen them, was truly amazing. There was also a family close to me, and the father––who apparently had run a marathon at some point in his life––was telling his young kid how wonderful all these athletes were. This made me miss my own daddy so much! I remembered when we went cycling to the Colombian mountains when I was younger... Maybe he'll come run with me in Central Park some time...?
