Short Escapes: Princeton

Princeton Art Museum

After having the longest week last week, I decided to run away of the city and take some time to breath and be happy in Princeton with one of the people I love the most in the whole world.

Although my Princeton escape lasted only two days, it was absolutely amazing! We walked around this beautiful place on Friday, had our little picnic in the gardens, and then went for some delicious ice cream. There was also time to visit the museum and have dinner with the family. After dinner, we had our little GNO and went for drinks and dessert––I promise I'll share the recipe for my perfect-for-fall drink if I ever manage to discover how to do it––and then cuddled in bed and watched Disney movies at the end of the night––although I must confess I slept probably for half of the movie!

On Saturday we slept in, and went for some fluffy and delicious pancakes. My choice was banana, strawberry, and chocolate chips pancakes, naturally. I then had to run back to the city, to a conference about Luxury on MAD Museum. Spending some quality time with one of my best friends was something that I really missed, and it was more than incredible! I probably didn't realise this until I was there, but sometimes I get lonely in the city. Even if I'm constantly surrounded by people––and I love it––I still miss my family and friends!

It's Tea (Read: Chocolate) Time!

Last Friday, my mum, my sister and I decided we should have a girls' afternoon and have tea together. We wanted to indulge ourselves with a lot of sugar, so we actually changed the tea for something more powerful... hot cocoa!

My sister, who's always trying to break the Guinness record of the person who has eaten the biggest ice cream ever seen, ordered a huge ice cream. I tried it and it was really good...

Hot Chocolate Time!

...But nothing like my delicious strawberry & banana crepe. It has the perfect amount of fruit, it was sweet, but not excessively, and it came with a scoop of ice cream. What more could I ask for?

Hot Chocolate Time!

Hot Chocolate Time!

Yes, you're right. Hot cocoa. That's what topped up my crepe. It was sweet, it had a big load of marshmallows, and it warmed me up in a cold afternoon.

Hot Chocolate Time!

Hot Chocolate Time!

Nothing better than a good time with my favourite girls, overdosing with sugar, right?

New York: The Last Weekend

As I told you on yesterday's post, my last weekend in New York was a very exciting one. It all started on Thursday, when Diego and I woke up at noon, had a lazy breakfast in bed (made of orange juice and cereal with soymilk) and then headed out to the Big Gay Ice Cream Shop to eat their delicious salty pimp (i.e. ice cream with salt).

I was then off to the Hilton at the Ave. of the Americas, which I didn't leave until Sunday, having one of the best adventures in life. I had the time to get inspired at the wonderful New York Public Library and write about maternal health in the sex industry, as well as being part of a wonderful leadership workshop, based on individual personalities. There was also time for some fun, which included spending a whole afternoon at Central Park and having dinner at the wonderful Ellen's Stardurst Dinner.

The people that spent the weekend with me are all absolutely amazing and I couldn't have changed the time I spent with them for anything. I learned a lot, and I grew as a person. I really can't thank them enough for giving me such an amazing time!

Now I'm back home –back to reality– and working hard. I miss my Diego and my loves from the Hilton. I wish I could go back now!

Love,
