Dreaming of Lace

Summer is definitely the season to wear lace. Lace dresses are my favourite, especially if you want to go for a romantic walk on the beach while the Sun sets down (yes, I'm feeling a little cheesy lately).

Unfortunately, it's not warm enough yet––and it will probably never be here in Bogota––to walk around town wearing a lace dress. It is war enough to wear lace tights, though. And to leave my jacket home!

For one of my best friends' birthday, I decided to wear this lovely Max Mara dress, together with some old lace tights I stole from my mum ages ago. She says she got them from Italy when she was about my age, so I'm actually very surprised they still exist! I also wore some red accessories, including red lipstick. It was probably the first time in my life I've dared to wear such a bold makeup, but I truly liked it. That means I might try new ideas soon!

A Thousand Flowers And A Dress

I just love wearing floral prints all over my body during the spring. It makes me feel happy, fresh, and very tuned-in with the season. More than just wearing floral prints in different garments, I love just wearing a dress with a floral print. It makes me feel like the summer is finally here, even if it's only April. So that's why I decided to wear this beauty for today's post, taking some advantage of a really sunny and warm day.

Now the only thing I need is the summer to come by faster! I need to get a tan and to enjoy the beauty of sunny days! The good thing, though, is that this weekend I escaped from the city and will hopefully get a slight tan. But more on that next week...

A Floral Spring

I absolutely adore wearing floral prints during the spring, so I've been trying to do it as much as possible recently. I love it when my mood matches the weather, so I can't help but wear lots and lots of flowers as nature re-flourishes after the winter!

White & Nude

White is definitely a summer colour. Whenever I think of a white dress, I can't help but imagine myself walking on the beach or having a beautiful party on a summer house. Doesn't it happen to you? Something similar happens with nude colours. They are all so fresh and summer-y that I can't even imagine transitioning into this new season without wearing them at all!

I chose to wear them together. Why not? In the end, they're all great things, and most of the time two great things look even better when put together. To add a touch of colour to my somewhat mono-chromatic look, I chose to wear some neon accessories. So I stole these bright pink matching shoes & bag from my sister. How do you like them? I really love the fact that they also match the tiny detail in my top, don't you?

A Bold Spring

Bold colours. They're probably my favourite colours to wear in the summer. Their electricity and liveliness makes me the happiest person on Earth, and I honestly couldn't imagine the world without them. Not even the rainbow or lilies––my favourite flowers––would exist without these wonderful colours.

What I love the most about bold colours is mixing them together and exploring how to make them look even greater. I haven't been brave enough to actually wear more than three bold colours at a time, so I decided to start this season with only two: blue and green. To neutralise them a little, I chose a white blazer, as well as a white purse (one of my fave acquisitions from last summer in Milan).

Say Goodbye To The Cold Days!

Is it just me, or the winter seems to be finally coming to an end? This week has been particularly warm, meaning I've been able to go out without wearing a jacket, and even without boots. Woot woot!

Although the weather hasn't been kind enough to actually wear a summer dress, I'm pretty sure it's time to start transitioning into the Spring. My tip? Start getting rid of the layers, and shorten your trousers! Today, I'm showing you exactly how I do that.

The Little White Dress

Nothing says summer like a little white dress! It's the perfect piece of clothing for a fresh, elegant, look. That's why I decided to wear this amazing one for my sister's graduation back on Saturday. I decided to give it a touch of colour, wearing blue accessories.

For the jewellery, I chose gold. To me, it brightens up any outfit more than silver, especially on a sunny day! I'm not much of an earring person, but I do love bracelets and watches. So I chose to wear two watches in my wrist and about 6 bracelets.

Flowers on a Summer Dress

Summer Dresses. To tell the truth, the main reason why I love summer is because we get to wear lots of dresses! And, yes, I know, we can wear dresses even in the snow (trust me, I've been there!), but there's nothing like a sweet summer dress!

One very important type of summer dresses are those with flower prints. I think this ever-coming trend has made it clear that there's nothing like a summer without flowers! And I personally can't live without them. Whether it's in shorts, skirts, T-Shirts... Or a beautiful dress –like the protagonist of today's post–, I can't stop obsessing over flowers every year at this time!

Wearing Crop Tops!

Crop tops. As you might be aware by now, they came back only to stay! And I'm loving all the women taking them out and wearing them like rockstars on the streets! It is so 90's!!! This trend definitely takes me back to my childhood and I can't avoid loving it from the bottom of my heart!

But the problem is... I was a bit scared of wearing a crop top when I first saw they were returning to life. Although I was dying to do so, I felt kind of insecure! I know this might sound a bit funny –considering I blog and share my life with the world–, but I'm more of a shy type of person... Which is why I wasn't sure if I should walk around town showing my belly to everyone out on the streets! Until I found this perfect neon crop top! It's long in the back, which means that I feel more protected than if it was a real crop top! And it's kind of long, which means I don't actually get to show that much... My perfect match!

May Flowers On A Sunset

After all the rain we had during the weekend, we've finally seen the sun rise above our heads. And that also means sunsets have been quite amazing these past few days. Aren't you excited about it?

Since we were having an amazing, sunny day, I decided to wear nude colours. In the end, they're big this season! But it turned out my outfit wasn't much of what I planned so superhero Diego came and told me to wear this flower T-Shirt. I wasn't convinced at the beginning but, once I saw my reflection in the mirror, I couldn't believe my eyes! It looked absolutely gorgeous!

After April showers come May Flowers

If you're wondering where this T-Shirt came from, I must tell you it's been with me for almost two years. But it's SO pretty, I just can't get enough of it. I remember last year I wore it in Boston with some denim. And I never will regret it! About four complete strangers told me it was amazing in the streets... Isn't it nice? I love Boston people for loving my T-Shirt (among other qualities they have)!

But besides feeling loved by passers-by, there are other reasons why I love my flower oldie. It's got the brightest colours and it's got flowers; two everlasting favourites. May usually tends to be all about the flowers! And that means May (and the whole Spring-Summer season, actually) is a perfect occasion to take out this all-time favourite and explore brand new ways to wear it!

Chained Love

Another big favourite I wore with this outfit was the chain bracelet. It is so beautiful! I remember I found it about a year ago in my mum's belongings and couldn't help but taking it! She was not very happy at the beginning (who would like to give this piece away, right?), but after all my begging she accepted. And now it's one of my favourite pieces. It's so vintage but at the same time so timeless! I love it!

Sunset Boulevard

One thing I always complain about my city is the weather: I thought it was the place where the weather has the most bipolar behaviour in the whole world... Until I spent a complete summer in Maine and realised that I could live with this weather!!! But I honestly wish we could have proper seasons here, instead of having them a little bit of each one of them everyday!

I know many of you probably don't understand what I'm talking about... So to make you feel a little more in context, let me explain. Colombia is near the Equator, which means we don't have classic seasons; instead, we have two rainy seasons: december and june. The temperature depends on how high on the mountains we are: the higher, the colder. The city where I live is normally around 18 C and cloudy. But, sometimes we wake up with a very warm and sunny day and, around noon, it starts raining as if the sky were going to fall... And sometimes it's just the opposite. You could wear 3 different outfits every day and you can never tell! Which means you're never prepared for the day!

However, Mother Nature has been quite kind to us these past few days, thankfully! This means we've had some sun and the temperature has been warmer than normal! And that's why I decided to wear this amazing spring look, with a beautiful floral print! There's absolutely nothing more spring than flowers...

And to shoot the pictures, there couldn't be a better location! Diego and I went looking for a cool place to shoot near home, and we discovered this beautiful street! It's only 2 blocks away from home, and I honestly can't believe how come we hadn't seen it before! It is SO pretty! The light was also perfect for the shoot, right before the sunset. I couldn't be happier with the result! It was so magical, that I suddenly felt transported to Sunset Boulevard in California! I wish I could find this kind of places more often!

The one thing I like the most about Spring is how everything comes back to life. Flowers blossom again, and colours invade the world again... And after the white, snowy winter, who doesn't want a touch of colour?

Birthday Girl

As I told you on my first post, I celebrated my birthday on Saturday. My day started with a wonderful horse riding session, and then my boyfriend took me for brunch. I had an enormous amount of food, but I will never regret. It was absolutely delicious.

Just in case you're wondering what I ate, I might tell you I started with a delicious cup of Mimosa. Then, I had eggs, tomatoes, chorizo and chips. Enormous, but I couldn't allow myself to leave a tiny little piece of it. It was truly delicious! And, to finish, we shared berries and apple crumble with ice cream. This dessert became my favourite the moment I put the first bite in my mouth. I'm definitely learning how to bake it and, when I do, I might consider sharing the recipe with you (so you have to be good readers in order to receive this prize!)

We then went back home and ate cake. It was a shame that we couldn't get my all-time favourite chocolate cake, but it was still delicious. And the best part: eating birthday cake as breakfast on the following day. That might be the only true reason to love turning a year older!
