Travel Diaries: Rome, Day 1

We arrived in Rome at night, so we decided to go to our hotel and have a good rest, before starting to actually visit the city.

On our first day in Rome, la città eterna, we started by visiting the Vatican City. We went to St. Peter's Basilica and hung around the place for a while. I really wanted to visit the museums, but everyone else was tired of museums by now and they wouldn't come with me :( So I guess that means I'll have to come back!

After that, we had lunch at whatever restaurant we could find near the Piazza del Risurgimento. We had prosciutto & melone as a starter, and then shared two pasta dishes: spaghetti with tomato and basil (as usual) and farfalle with asparagus. For desert, we chose a tiramisu. And, although it looked like a kindergarten kid's birthday cake, it was tasty! I just was really surprised by how it looked!

After lunch, we went to the Fontana di Trevi, and then walked around the city for the rest of the afternoon. We went past the Imperial Forums and finally ended at the Colosseum.
