Dreaming of Lace

Dreaming of Lace

Summer is definitely the season to wear lace. Lace dresses are my favourite, especially if you want to go for a romantic walk on the beach while the Sun sets down (yes, I'm feeling a little cheesy lately).

Unfortunately, it's not warm enough yet––and it will probably never be here in Bogota––to walk around town wearing a lace dress. It is war enough to wear lace tights, though. And to leave my jacket home!

For one of my best friends' birthday, I decided to wear this lovely Max Mara dress, together with some old lace tights I stole from my mum ages ago. She says she got them from Italy when she was about my age, so I'm actually very surprised they still exist! I also wore some red accessories, including red lipstick. It was probably the first time in my life I've dared to wear such a bold makeup, but I truly liked it. That means I might try new ideas soon!

Festival Universitario de Danza

As most of you already know, I love dancing. It's one of the few things––together with horseback riding––that make me forget completely about the world around me when I'm doing it. It makes me fly to another world, while making me feel happy and relaxed.

Today is the International Dance Day, and I could definitely not let it pass unnoticed in my blog. So I decided to search my laptop for some old pictures from my dance group's performance back in October, during the Contemporary Dance Festival in Bogota.

Sushi Nights

Friday night was spent making sushi and ceviche at a friend's house, while drinking some rosé wine. It was one of the best nights I've had in a while, because we had the chance to chat, laugh and have lots of fun while cooking.

The food was also absolutely amazing, so what else could I ask for?

Experimenting Photography

Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro

When I went with my sister to the theatre festival, I also had the chance to experiment new photography techniques, and getting to shoot pictures that looked somehow different than usual.

Although I must say this was a sort of difficult task for an unexperienced photographer like me, I managed to shoot three pictures I love. What I like about them is that they almost look like watercolours, so it's hard to tell if they really are pictures or if they are actually paintings. What do you think?

I usually moan about how the cultural scene in Bogota is so small and useless. But I must be honest and admit it's actually quite good––although you have to really engage and search for the events that are taking place all over the city––and it's been improving lately.

One of the things I believe has contributed the most to the development of a cultural atmosphere in the city is the Theatre Festival, which occurs every two years. This time, it took place during the past two weeks, and I loved going around the streets with my lovely sister to see some of the shows.

A Weekend Retreat To The Countryside

With my undergraduate thesis due in three weeks, grad school coming soon, and my new job, life has been far from easy lately. That's why I decided to run away from the city last weekend, and enjoy a couple of days in the countryside.

It was amazing because the weather was warm and sunny, which even allowed me to start tanning my body. I also ate a lot, although nothing really stylish. Just some traditional family dishes that will always remind me of my childhood. But, what's most important, is that I had the chance to rest and to get in contact with nature. I got to do some yoga while hearing the birds sing in the morning, and run in front of a ton of calm water. I heard nature while reading every night before going to bed, and I saw the best sunsets so far this year!

Happy Monday!
